Previously you had Wi-Fi, which allows you to send live preview from your camera to your smartphone or tablet, but with a few seconds lag it wasn’t ideal to frame your shot in real time.
With the screen directly on the back of your GoPro camera this problem is eliminated. You can now see what the camera see, in real time.

You also get video playback, with audio through built-in speaker or 3.5mm jack, and the screen has a slow-motion feature.
This also means you can review your shots and delete the ones you won’t use to clean storage space.

User-friendly menus

Changing settings with only 2 buttons available can take some time. By adding a touch screen you get a much simpler and faster way to change all the settings of your camera.

This is even more valuable when you use the Protune functionality, which allows you to modify settings for Color, ISO Limit, White Balance, Sharpness and Exposure.

Compatibility

Whether you use the Standard Housing, Skeleton Housing and Blackout Housing, GoPro has you covered. The LCD Touch Screen comes with customized Backdoors which will effectivly protect your camera AND your screen.

Note that you can use the LCD screen underwater to frame your shots. However the touch functions will stop working if you dive.
